About Us

Why We Do What We Do

Who We Are

We began this journey because we were hungry for more. Not more activity, or programs, or noise—more Christ, more authentic fellowship, more of the shared life we see in Scripture. We longed for a way of gathering that wasn’t built around personalities, programs, or performance, but around the Presence of Jesus revealed through His people.

Along the way, we began to see how the church drifted from its original intent. Between the early church and the modern one, the priesthood of every believer was replaced with spectatorship, and the supernatural became the unusual instead of normal. We watched sincere believers shrivel inside systems meant to launch them. We saw community take a back seat to attendance. And we saw hunger with nowhere to eat.

And then we awakened to a sobering reality: for nearly 1,700 years we have practiced a form of Christian fellowship that has no Scriptural precedent—structures and programs built around hierarchy, passivity, and performance.

But we also discovered beauty when we simply gather—listening to the Spirit, honoring Christ in one another, and opening our hearts. Christ becomes visible. Fellowship becomes transformational. The inner life begins to heal. And ordinary people carry the wisdom, authority, and compassion of Jesus into their everyday world.

This discovery reshaped our lives. It awakened a desire to return to the ancient way—where communion is tangible and embodied, and every believer brings the face of Christ.

Primal Church grew out of this journey: an invitation to rediscover the simplicity, power, and beauty of the way of Jesus—together.

Meet Dwight & Doe

Dwight and Doe Kopp have spent decades pursuing an expression of communion the modern church rarely makes room for. With their five children, their home has become ground zero for real community—hospitality, inner healing, formation, laughter, and discipleship happen around the table and in the living room.

Their passion is simple: to see the church return to her roots, where Christ is revealed in every believer and fellowship becomes a place of healing and strength. They’ve walked with individuals and families for years, cultivating freedom and recovering the simple, participatory way of Jesus.

Their hope is to walk with those who hunger for real community and invite them into the journey of rediscovering the ancient way—together.
